In Ontario, section 2 of the Dog Owners’ Liability Act provides that the owner of a dog is liable for damages resulting from a bite or attack by the dog on another domestic animal.  There is no requirement to prove negligence on the part of the dog’s owner to successfully recover in a court of law.
